Rodovid Charitable Foundation to support Rodovid.org genealogy portal
The Rodovid Charitable Foundation founded in Kyiv in the summer of 2025 announces the start of cooperation with the Rodovid.org genealogy portal that is celebrating 20 years of operations in 2025.
As the first step to support the operations of Rodovid.org we herewith announce a pilot fundraising round to collect funds to pay for the website’s hosting services.
Fundraising for hosting
The aim of the this first fundraising effort is to collect an equivalent of $1,600 ($320 per month) to pay for the Rodovid.org website hosting services from 1 August to 31 December 2025.
About Rodovid.org genealogy portal
The Rodovid genealogy portal was created in March 2005 to enable joint, free and open editing of family trees. For all 20 years of its operations, Rodovid. org has remained free to use.
The servers of the Rodovid.org genealogy portal process about 1.5 million requests daily, ensuring stable operation of 25 language versions for tens of thousands of users from different parts of the world.

What's next
In addition to this web hosting fundraising effort, the Rodovid Charitable Foundation plans to collect funding for a number of other projects on the Rodovid.org website. They are as follows:
- Software updates that will make the website more modern-looking and functional for all its users
- Implementation of full-text and analytical search, which will allow searching for data by any search term in any language version
- A major update of the design, user interface, and layout of family trees
- Toponyms — unification of the names of all the settlements, with visualization of historical changes
- Curated trees — introduction of family trees created by user-curators based on verified data
- Educational materials — development of a series of teaching aids for educational programs.
